By default, WordPress includes all posts and pages in search results. However, sometimes you may want to hide certain content for example, internal pages, thank‑you pages, or transactional steps. On ruachost.com, you can easily exclude specific posts or pages using the Search Exclude plugin.

Why Exclude Content from Search?

  • Prevents internal or private pages from appearing in search results.

  • Keeps transactional or confirmation pages hidden from visitors.

  • Improves search relevance by showing only useful content.

  • Helps streamline user experience.

Installing the Search Exclude Plugin

  1. Log in to WordPress with an administrator account.

  2. In the dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New.

  3. Search for Search Exclude.

  4. Click Install Now, then Activate.

  5. A new option will appear in the editor sidebar for posts and pages.

⚙️ Excluding Posts or Pages

  1. Go to Posts → All Posts or Pages → All Pages.

  2. Select the post or page you want to exclude.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. In the right sidebar, scroll down to the Search Exclude settings.

  5. Tick the checkbox Exclude from Search Results.

  6. Update or publish the page.

✅ The selected post or page will no longer appear in WordPress search results.

Important Notes

  • Excluded posts/pages remain accessible via direct URL.

  • This only affects WordPress’s internal search, not external search engines like Google.

  • To hide content from Google, use noindex meta tags or SEO plugins.

  • Always test search results after excluding content to confirm changes.
