Clearing a Web Browser Cache and Cookies

Web browsers store cache (temporary files) and cookies (site data) to speed up browsing and remember your preferences. While helpful, these can sometimes cause issues — for example, showing outdated versions of your website after updates or interfering with login sessions. Clearing them ensures you see the most recent version of your site and helps resolve many common browser-related problems.

How to Clear Cache and Cookies

 Google Chrome

1. Open Chrome.

2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows/Linux) or Command + Shift + Delete (Mac).

3. In the Time range dropdown, select All time.

4. Check:

   • Cookies and other site data

   • Cached images and files

5. Click Clear data.

 Mozilla Firefox

1. Open Firefox.

2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows/Linux) or Command + Shift + Delete (Mac).

3. In the Time range to clear dropdown, select Everything.

4. Check all boxes (Cookies, Cache, etc.).

5. Click Clear Now.

 Microsoft Edge

1. Open Edge.

2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.

3. In the Time range dropdown, select All time.

4. Check:

   • Cookies and other site data

   • Cached images and files

5. Click Clear now.

 Safari (macOS)

1. Open Safari.

2. Go to Safari → Clear History.

3. In the dropdown, select All history.

4. Click Clear History.

 Safari (iOS)

1. Open Settings on your iPhone/iPad.

2. Scroll down and tap Safari.

3. Tap Clear History and Website Data.

4. Confirm by tapping Clear History.

Android (Chrome)

1. Open Chrome on your Android device.

2. Tap the three-dot menu → Settings.

3. Tap Privacy and security → Clear browsing data.

4. Select All time.

5. Check Cookies and site data and Cached images and files.

6. Tap Clear data.

 Opera

1. Open Opera.

2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.

3. In the Time range dropdown, select All time.

4. Check:

   • Cookies and other site data

   • Cached images and files

5. Click Delete data.
