Importing an application into Softaculous

Softaculous allows you to manage applications (like WordPress, Joomla, Magento, etc.) even if they were installed manually. By importing them into Softaculous, you gain access to features such as automated updates, backups, cloning, and staging.

Why Import Applications?

• Centralized management of all apps from cPanel → Softaculous Apps Installer.

• Ability to run backups and restores directly from Softaculous.

• Access to cloning and staging tools for testing changes safely.

• Simplifies updates and reduces risk of vulnerabilities.

Steps to Import an Application

1. Log in to cPanel.

   • Navigate to the Softaculous Apps Installer section.

2. Search for the Application.

   • In the Softaculous dashboard, type the name of the application (e.g., WordPress) in the search box.

   • Alternatively, browse categories in the left sidebar (e.g., Blogs → WordPress).

3. Click Import.

   • Select the application you want to import.

   • The Import Software page will appear.

4. Choose Protocol.

   • Select https:// or https://www if your site has an SSL certificate.

   • Select http:// or http://www if SSL is not installed.

5. Choose Domain.

   • Select the domain where the application is installed.

6. Specify Directory.

   • Enter the directory where the application is installed (e.g., blog).

   • Leave blank if installed in the root directory.

7. Click Import.

   • Softaculous will scan and import the application.

   • You’ll see a confirmation message:

     “Congratulations, the software was imported successfully.”
